Where is CAPS located?

CAPS is located in Connecticut’s Fairfield County, in the city of Shelton, northeast of Stamford and Greenwich; south of Hartford and Boston with easy access by car or mass transportation from all major cities in the Northeast/Mid-Atlantic region, including New York City, Boston and Philadelphia.

Are CAPS SSAE 16 Type II (formerly SAS70) compliant datacenters?

Yes, we are. CAPS are environmentally controlled SSAE 16 Type 2 compliant hardened, highly secure data center facilities. CAPS completed its SSAE 16, Type II, Independent Service Auditor’s Report on Controls Placed in Operation and Tests of Operating Effectiveness. The report is available for independent auditors of our user organizations. CAPS comply with the U.S.-EU Safe Harbor privacy policy framework as set forth by the Department of Commerce regarding information privacy practices for the collection, use, and retention of data from the European Union. CAPS is also PCI-DSS Compliant, with CAPS’ policies, procedures, and technical systems that store, process and/or transmit cardholder data satisfactorily meeting the requirements of the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS).

How secure is CAPS?

Each CAPS facility is a standalone building located in a non-seismic zone location in Shelton, CT. The buildings are monitored by 24/7 ADT surveillance cameras and security patrols, and room access requires an authorized card-key. All clients at CAPS’ carrier-neutral sites benefit from the services of a fully redundant network infrastructure with diverse fiber paths using multiple local carriers to maximize client connectivity and uptime. These multiple/redundant carriers ensure that there is no single point of failure, enabling clients to enjoy a high level of confidence that they can always access their data.

What happens in the event of a regional power outage, weather event or disaster?

CAPS take all necessary steps of preparedness and provide continuous communication and updates to clients throughout the event. The CAPS team is on full alert and ready to respond as needed. CAPS has an emergency plan in place that requires back-up generators, offsite backups of essential information, and servers at a data center that can be switched over. To prevent downtime in case of an outage, CAPS receives priority-level electricity from two separate utility substations). Once a client declares a disaster, clients contact CAPS to make sure their workstations are available and ready to go with their pre-determined configured environments.

Are CAPS Centers accessible 24/7?

CAPS provide 24/7 access to clients with prior authorization and a card-key.

How often does CAPS test its disaster recovery system?

Every week, a performance test is done to see if the batteries and generators are running efficiently. CAPS Centers is backed up by diesel generators with an on-site fuel supply, as well as priority resupply, at the ready. Regular maintenance and testing programs are scheduled. In addition, there is a UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) and bypass switch systems, as well as   multiple battery backup systems with Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS) between commercial and backup power. The computer room’s power distribution features redundant power distribution units (PDUs) with A/B configuration.

What certifications has CAPS earned, and does CAPS undergo annual audits to maintain them?

Ample on-site parking is available at our Enterprise 2 facilities.

What amenities are available for clients on-site?

CAPS is located in a building that is rich in amenities, including an eat-in dining facility, on-site café, conference and break rooms, a yoga studio and fitness center (with showers), free parking, and a children’s daycare facility. CAPS are easily accessible by car and mass transit, and are within driving distance of New York, New Jersey, Boston and Hartford-area airports. CAPS are also situated in close proximity to major hotel chains, retailers and restaurants.
